All our fingers are not equal

5 Dec

When it comes to body size just remember we were not created from a cookie cutter. We are different as the fingers on our hand. Some of us are born to be thin, some medium and some big built.  It’s not use trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Some people will not be able to lose weight in a healthy way i.e. the only way they could lose weight and be their so-called ideal would be to starve themselves to death.  They may be disheartened and sad of the ability to lose weight in spite of all their hard efforts at the gym.  Take heart. Scientists now say not to obsess about the scale that it is the fitness rather than fatness that appears to make the difference as our size relates to health and wellness.A study that followed 2,603 people over 60 years of age in the US for an average of 12 years found that those who were very unfit were most likely to die – regardless of whether they were overweight. “Certainly obesity is a public health problem but…so much attention gets focused on it that people think it is the be-all and end-all and that’s not true,” said Professor Steven Blair from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, who led the study.    You can be fat and fit, the message is clear though, be sure to exercise regularly, stay physically active and you will enjoy a healthier life.  Thirty minutes a day is still the recommended minimum exercise time.
